SELVE Home in Action: Smart System Comfortably Controls Screens in a Stylish Penthouse
SELVE Home and commeo Radio Technology Provide Comfort, Protection, Energy Efficiency, and Flexibility
Lüdenscheid | 20-11-2024
With 148 m² of living space and a 97 m² terrace, the couple enjoys an exceptional view of Hamont while living in a new, barrier-free penthouse that is "already prepared for aging." After decades of work, they now live their dream: regular vacations and plenty of freedom at home in a stylishly designed, high-quality apartment with every imaginable comfort.
Premium Windows & Screens
The character of the penthouse is defined by its expansive windows. The black aluminum frames come from Belgian window manufacturer Profel, a long-time SELVE customer like the renowned sunshade producer Wilms. From their Meerhout headquarters, Wilms custom-designed and manufactured the zip screens, now providing optimal light and sun protection for the van Hornes. "The screens keep the heat out in summer, eliminating the need for energy-hungry air conditioning," they report. The functional, black sunshade fabric is light-transmitting and semi-transparent, yet highly heat-repellent. "Our home is bright even with the screens down," the couple shares. For privacy, the screens are equally advantageous, blocking unwanted views. The screen casings, integrated into the façade, are invisible from outside, adding an aesthetic advantage.
SELVE Technology in Daily UseThe 13 zip screens operate with SELVE drives, utilizing SE Plus radio motors for reliable operation. SELVE Home, combined with commeo radio technology, ensures convenient control. "When the sun shines, our home is automatically protected from overheating, without us lifting a finger," says the couple. SELVE Home autonomously adjusts the screens based on sunrise and sunset, enhancing living comfort, saving energy, and providing security through monitoring. The SELVE app allows them to check the screen status remotely, take manual control if necessary, and simulate presence. "Everything works flawlessly and makes our daily life easier," Henk van Horne affirms. SELVE’s Benelux Sales Manager Oliver Rentmeister provided initial setup support, helping program the controls and integrating sensors.
Additional Sensors in UseTo protect their premium zip-screen system, the van Hornes ensured it is shielded from damage due to strong wind or frost. commeo WSRF sensors were installed on two façade sides, automatically adjusting screens based on weather conditions. Rentmeister set the thresholds and added two commeo radio transmitters for manual operation when needed. "These features are rarely used; SELVE Home and the sensors handle everything for a fully automated experience," Rentmeister concludes. Yvonne and Henk van Horne are "very satisfied" with SELVE's technical support and the radio products. They appreciate the intelligent solution from Lüdenscheid, which lets them access their system conveniently from anywhere in the world via smartphone or tablet.
