Market launch of the SE Solar-com: Solar set opens up new opportunities and business fields

The battery-powered solar motor is a consistent addition to the SELVE drive portfolio, an important step towards sustainability, and “opens up new business areas for our professional partners,” say Frederico Ferreira and Jörn Wilberg about the launch of the SE Solar-com. Solar solutions “are fully in trend”, as more and more end users aim to save energy and reduce CO₂ emissions. Consequently, market demand is growing steadily year after year — nationally and internationally. “Our solar set closes a gap for our broad customer base,” agree the sales and export managers. Since its first presentation at R+T, they have held “many, many discussions about this highly interesting new development.” “Numerous specialist customers have already received demo sets and are eager to get started,” both report. The official market launch took place in early July.

Product package with strong advantages
SELVE’s sales professionals are fully convinced by the new opportunities in self-sufficient energy supply for motorised roller shutters. The product package harnesses clean solar energy while offering major installation advantages, as Jörn Wilberg and Frederico Ferreira explain. A key benefit: the system deliberately eliminates the need for conventional 230V mains connections — traditional installation work becomes obsolete. The SELVE solar set provides shading without any electrical connection and is perfectly suited for retrofit applications. Whether for sustainable building refurbishments or new installations, “our self-sufficient solution can be installed far more quickly than wired drives, offering clear savings in both time and cost,” stresses Export Manager Frederico Ferreira.

Completely straightforward installation
The SE Solar-com fits into all standard roller shutter boxes. The energy required for the drive is generated by a solar panel and stored in a high-quality nickel–metal hydride battery. The solar panel can be mounted easily on the box or façade — either glued or screwed on. “Installation and commissioning are absolutely straightforward,” emphasises Jörn Wilberg. Using commeo radio control, operation of the shutters is “very easy and comfortable.” When combined with the commeo Multi Send hand-held transmitter, “we also offer a very practical feature that provides additional safety for end customers,” adds the Sales Manager Germany. The five-level battery indicator on the display provides information on the current charge status. In addition, the solar drive can also be integrated into the smart SELVE Home system.

Plenty of solar energy – even in winter
Anyone who believes that solar solutions require bright sunshine is mistaken. “Our solar panel also works in diffuse daylight; the battery charges even on cloudy days and independently of the sunlight intensity,” explains the SELVE Export Manager. “The panel provides sufficient energy during the day to operate the roller shutters at night or in winter,” he continues. Moreover, “our advanced solar system optionally allows the installation of an external charging socket within the guide rail to manually recharge the battery,” adds Jörn Wilberg. Depending on the installation site, two panels can also be connected in parallel to double the solar yield. Another major advantage lies in the adjustable travel speeds of the battery-powered roller shutter motor, which also reduce noise levels — in whisper mode, operation is barely audible. According to SELVE’s sales experts, there are “many good reasons” — both in Germany and abroad — to choose the solar set. Initially, the SE Solar-com is available with a torque of 10 Nm. “From Q1 2025, we will also offer a 20 Nm version for larger façades,” adds Frederico Ferreira. “That opens up even more potential.”

Promotional campaign for the domestic market
With a special campaign, SELVE aims to make the SE Solar-com even more appealing to German customers. “Our specialist partners can look forward to an attractive introductory package,” says Jörn Wilberg. The sales launch is eagerly awaited by SELVE’s field sales team to meet the growing demand for this reliable, sustainable alternative to conventional drive solutions. Accompanying the launch are new explanatory videos, a new solar brochure, and other sales support materials designed to help partners promote this innovation effectively.
